The Beardmore Hotel & Conference Centre was delighted to win at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2012:
St. Peter the Apostle High School visit The Beardmore
A group of students from St Peter the Apostle High School visited The Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre on 17 November.
The fourth year pupils had an in-depth tour and were given talks from staff members about the key departments within the hotel including reception, kitchen, food and beverage, events and housekeeping.
The pupils were offered information on the various career paths available within a hotel environment.
The visit was arranged as part of the hotel’s business engagement programme in partnership with West Dunbartonshire Council’s Skills for Work Hospitality Course. This visit enhanced the pupil’s employability skills by having the opportunity to learn directly from industry.
Beardmore General Manager, Eileen Newman, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the pupils and give them some real insight into what’s involved in the smooth running of a four-star hotel.
“As a large local employer, we like to set a positive example when it comes to engaging with the local community. Maybe we will see some of the pupils back here as members of staff one day.”
Principal teacher Maureen Duffy said: “The visit was a great success, the hotel staff went above and beyond to give the students a really enjoyable experience.
The pupils learned about the qualifications required for various positions within the hospitality industry but they also learned the importance of working hard, being friendly and providing service with a smile.”
