The Beardmore Hotel & Conference Centre was delighted to win at the Scottish Hotel Awards 2012:
Wine expert has ‘grape’ night at the Beardmore
A world renowned wine expert surprised diners by joining them for a ‘Dine with Wine’ evening at a Clydebank hotel.
Vine expert Tom Cannavan popped in to sample the tasty delights on offer at the Beardmore Hotel and Conference Centre’s food and wine matching event on Friday 29 January.
Wine connoisseur Tom – the current Louis Roederer International Wine Writer of the Year and Scottish Television’s resident wine expert on The Hour each Friday evening – tucked in to ‘Game from Land and Sea’ along with fellow guests while being advised why each wine had been selected for each course.
Tom Cannavan said: “The kitchen certainly pulled out all the stops with some very good food matched to interesting wines. I particularly enjoyed the fact that so many of the flavour combinations were really quite creative, and the wine choices spot on. A very enjoyable evening.”
The ‘Dine with Wine’ event features regularly in the Beardmore’s diary and includes complimentary canapés and bubbly on arrival, before guests sit down to a four-course gourmet meal with specially selected accompanying wine and a harpist playing throughout the evening.
Valerie Teape, Food and Beverage Manager at the four-star venue, added: “Tom has judged at some of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions. What he doesn’t know about wine isn’t worth knowing, so it was a great honour to have him at our Dine with Wine event.
“The evening is the perfect opportunity for those who want to learn how to choose a wine to complement their dish. At each event we present a wine speaker who guides diners through the food and wine matching.”
